Corin Forest is a year round recreation facility with an emphasis
on mountain sports and activities located just 45 minutes drive
from Parliament House, Canberra, on an all sealed road.
Corin Forest is open weekends, public holidays and A.C.T. school
holidays at 10 am until 5 pm (weekends and public holidays), and
4 pm on weekdays in the school holidays.
In any environment, people of any age would greatly enjoy these
exciting, world-class rides, but located in Corin Forest's natural,
Australian mountain bushland setting, they become a unique and unforgettable
experience.
Many people, however, come to Corin just to enjoy the wonderful
Australian bush setting. The grassy verges of a tranquil pond, formed
on a permanent stream, is the perfect spot for picnicking, and our
Cafe overlooking the pond offers refreshments together with normal
amenities. In winter the Cafe has a roaring open fire, creating
a cosy atmosphere
Gibralter Valley: Of general interest to intending visitors
to Corin Forest is the several attractions in and around the immediate
region leading up through the Gibralter Valley.
Woods Reserve: At kilometre 7 along the Corin Road is Woods
Reserve Picnic and Camping Ground. Run by A.C.T. Forests it contains: (a)
picnic tables and BBQs (b) public toilets and showers
(c) tent camping sites.
Gibralter Falls: At kilometre 7 visit the falls for panoramic
views.
Square Rock: 1.6km past the Corin Forest front gate is the
start of a 7.5km walk to Square Rock (elevation 1400m). The walk
climbs from the Corin Road, through granite outcrops, open grasslands
and snowgums before arriving at Square Rock from which there are
sweeping views of the Brindabella Ranges, the Cotter Valley and
to Canberra. The round trip (moderate walking) takes approximately
4 hours.
